Dr. Kyle Farmer

Kyle Farmer, DVM

Dr. Kyle Farmer has an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from UNC Wilmington and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NC State University. Shortly after graduation he moved to Washington State where he practiced Aquatic/fish medicine for a year prior to transitioning to small animal medicine. After a bit over 3 years in Washington, He and his wife Dr. Abby Farmer, moved back to coastal NC with the hopes of growing their family closer to their roots. In his spare time, Dr. Farmer enjoys kayak fishing, golfing, sampling local breweries, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Farmer places an emphasis on preventative care, communication, and providing a positive veterinary visit for the entire family.

Dr. Abby Farmer

Abby Farmer, DVM

Dr. Abby Farmer obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2019, after attending NC State for her Bachelor’s degree. She then moved to Washington state to join her husband, also a veterinarian, where they practiced for 2.5 years. At the start of 2022 they moved back to be closer to family and are thrilled to call NC home again! Dr. Farmer joined Pet Health of Hampstead in February 2022, and since June 2023, Drs. Abby and Kyle Farmer are practice owners of Pet Health of Hampstead- they are both excited to serve the local community with excellent veterinary medicine and compassionate care.  

Dr. Abby Farmer’s professional interests include preventative medicine, dentistry, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work, Dr. Farmer can be found spending time with her husband and son (born September 2022), going to the beach, and attempting to play golf! Her two cats, Sasha and Zoe, are the current furry family members, and she would love to add a Golden Retriever to the mix in the future. 

Dr. Abby Farmer

Megan Smith, DVM

Dr. Megan Smith is delighted to become a part of the Pet Health of Hampstead family. A Wilmington native, she pursued both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees at NC State University, graduating from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019.  

After spending some time away, Dr. Smith and her husband, Cole, have returned to the Wilmington area to be closer to family. They are thrilled to be back near the beach, where they enjoy outdoor activities and exploring new places with their two young sons, Lincoln (2 years old) and Ross (2 months old). Their family also includes two beloved dogs, Sierra and Tula  

Dr. Smith’s professional interests encompass ultrasound, geriatric care, complex medical cases, pain management, and collaborating closely with pet owners to develop optimal treatment plans. She looks forward to meeting the wonderful clients and their pets at Pet Health of Hampstead.

Rick Rockwell

Rick Rockwell, Practice Manager

Rick has been in the veterinary field for over 30 years. He lives in Hampstead NC with his wife who is a feline only Veterinarian in Wilmington and 2 amazing boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, being outside enjoying nature, motorcycle riding and watching his boys train and compete in Jiu-jitsu.
